My Bookish Life: February TBR

Since it is the last day of January, I thought I would go ahead and post my Febuary TBR. Some of them I have been looking forward to reading for a good bit so this is pretty exciting! Also one of them I don't have a picture of right now because it's a library book and I'm waiting for it to get sent to the library.    First, I'm going to finish my reread of Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. I'm getting close to the end so I should be done with that one sometime next week. That will be the first one I review this month.        The second book for February depends on when the library book I have on hold comes in. The name of the book is Bad Reputation an Unauthorized Biography of Joan Nett. If it's in when I get done with Dr. Sleep I will read it next because I will have a time limit with it since it is a library book.       If the library book isn't in yet then I will move on to Lock Every Door by Riley Sager. I have been really looking fo

My Bookish Life: January Reading Wrap Up

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a good night. January is coming to a close so I thought I would publish my January reading wrap up. My Febuary TBR will be up soon too.    The first book I read this month was The Institute by Stephen King. I really liked the story and found it absolutely interesting. I really find the subjects of telekinesis and telepathy interesting when King writes about them. I would recommend reading Carrie, The Shining, Dr. Sleep, and The Institute in that order.          Pages: 561          Rating: 5 stars The second book I read was The Dirt by Motley Crue. They are my favorite band and this is one of my favorite music biographies. This book is very uncensored but if you like pure rock n roll stories you will probably like this one.  Rating: 5 stars  Pages: 431        The story in this book was interesting and intriguing . However, it was also somewhat predictable. I did however like the ending which caught me by surp

My Bookish Life Book Review: 2nd Chance

Ttitle: 2nd Chance Author: James Patterson Genre: fiction/crime Pages: 390 Rating: 3 stars Synopsis: The sensational killings that have rocked San Francisco appear to be unrelated except in their brutality. But detective Lindsey Boxer senses there is some thread connecting them all . She calls her friends in the Women's Murder Club together to see if they can discover what it is . Surely some clue has been over looked by their bosses and male colleagues.    Working with the Chronicle reporter Cindy Thomas, Assistant District Attorney Jill Bernhardt, and medical examiner Claire Washburn, Lindsey discovers there is indeed a link. The victims were of different ages, lived in different locations , and were killed with different weapons. But each had a close relative of a particular precession, a profession that sends a chill through Lindseys heart. My Review: I thought the story was ok. I mean it wasn't the best book I've read this month but it was ok. This is only th

My Bookish Life Book Review: The Dirt by Motley Crue with Neil Strauss

Title: The Dirt: Confessions of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band Authors: Motley Crue with Neil Strauss Genre: Autobiography Pages: 431 Rating: 5 stars       Synopsis: This book doesn't have a synopsis. I guess it's done like that because, the book is simply the true story of a decently well known rock/metal band. So some of the story is already decently known in that case. My review: This is another book that a reread for me. I have read this book several times because I love rock n roll stories and Motley Crue is my favorite band. I have to say their story is a very good one!       If you are an uptight person, you probably wouldn't like this book. This band has had a lot of very wild times and they are very open and honest about them in this book. However, if you like pure rock n roll stories then you might really like this book.         The band talks about everything. The beginning, the partying, making it big, the good times, and really bad times

My Bookish Life Book Review: The Institute

Title: The Institute          Author: Stephen King          Genre: Horror/Sci-fi           Pages: 561           Rating: 5 stars     Synopsis: The playground was surrounded by a chain link fence at least ten feet high, and Luke saw cameras peering down at two of the corners . They were dusty, as if they hadn't been cleaned in awhile. Beyond the fence there was nothing but forest, mostly pines... Whatever the Institute was, it was in the middle of an old-growth forest, which meant in the middle of nowhere. As for the playground itself, Luke's first thought was that if there was ever a prison exercise yard for kids between the ages of six and sixteen, it would look like this.     The girl-Iris- saw them and waved. She double bounced on the trampoline... "Sha! Who you got there?"   "This is Luke Ellis," Kalisha said, "New this morning."       My Review: I absolutely loved this book! I can't say enough good things about it. I

My Bookish Life : Birthday Book Haul Part 1

Hello everybody! How are you guys doing? I hope you are all doing nicely. I'm trying to work on some back issues while I make this post.           So let's get down to the reason why I'm making this post . Even though I have been trying to stay away from them (lack of space), since this is my birth month I allowed myself to go to the Friends of The Library book sale my local library has. So I was wanting to show you all what I hauled. 1. The Darkest Evening of The Year by Dean Koontz    Synopsis: Amy Redwing has devoted her life to rescuing dogs. But the unique bond she shares with Nickie , a golden retriever she saves in the most dangerous encounter of her life, is deeper than any she has ever known. In one night, their loyalty will be put to the test , and each will prove to the other how far they will go- when the stakes turn deadly serious.     Why I hauled it: I really like Dean Koontz. I read Watchers last year and loved it and something about the

My Bookish Life: January TBR

Happy New Year everybody! I know this post is a little late but, things were super busy here at my house. I hope everybody's year is off to a good start!      There are somethings about this TBR I want to discuss. January is my birth month so for this month the books I want to read the most are going to come first. Also there is no pressure on me to finish all of these.          Something I managed to finish yesterday was making a new TBR jar. I already drew the first book from it and it was Doctor Sleep by Stephen King which would actually be a reread for me! This is going to be a hard TBR to complete!          New Jar: First pick:        I also did the drawing to see which reading challenge I'm doing this year along with the good reads challenge. I drew the Alphabet Challenge. If you aren't familiar with that one that's where you read 1 book for every letter of the alphabet. I have also set my Goodreads goal for this year:  Also my hu
