Hello and how are you guys? I hope you all are having a good afternoon. I have had a pretty calm Sunday myself! We all stayed at home which was peaceful!     So I have a few reading updates for you guys and more than one book review this time! I hope you guys enjoy reading this article because it is going to be a pretty long one. With that being said, let's get started! Title: The Nightmare Before Christmas : The Battle For Pumpkin King Author: Dan Conner Genre: Manga Pages: 128 Rating: 3 stars Synopsis: Years ago, Jack and Oogie Boogie were close friends. Both eager to prove themselves, they poured all of their passion into their fantastical projects to earn their rightful place as the scariest duo in town! But there could only be one Pumpkin King! What could have turned to such great friends into bitter rivals? My thoughts on the book: This book was ok . It's illustrations are really good and the story is decent. It was nice to be reading a manga again because it'

My Bookish Life: Spooky season TBR!

Hello and how are you guys! I hope you have all been really good! I have been really good but, also really busy! I know I haven't been posting on here much and I wish I could post on here more often. Maybe it will happen when my crazy life slows down!      I am getting in the spooky season mood and because of that I put together a super spooky TBR for the next two months! I have gotten most of these off my own home library shelf so it also counts as me reading from my backlist! I think I have a pretty good mix of books on here and I can't wait to talk about it with all of you! 1. The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Battle For Pumpkin King    I saw this comic at the store recently and just had to get it! It's one of only two new buys in this TBR. I confess I have already read this one, I just haven't had time to get the review up! I will hopefully have the review up in a day or two. 2. Demon Copperhead    This is my library book clubs pick for the month of October!

My Bookish Life: My August TBR

Hello friends! I hope all of you are having a good morning. I just made some coffee and I'm starting to wake up. I know I haven't been consistent with my book blog recently but, my life has just been really busy lately. That being said I have put together my TBR for August and I'm excited about it!     I hope this coffee will get me awake soon! It might take two cups this morning! This one isn't being very effective. So anyways let's get on with discussing my TBR for August!  First up we have Louder Than Hell : The Definitive Oral History of Metal by Jon Wiederhorn & Katherine Turman. I have wanted to read this one for a while because I really love music. Since I had to get it from the library I have already started reading it. It's really good so far. It kind of reads like one long interview with a lot of different bands. It starts in the 70s and works it's way up to more modern times.  After that we have The First Commandment by Brad Thor. I'm

Hello and how are you guys? I hope you all are having a happy 4th of July! My husband is smoking some ribs and a pork shoulder for dinner tonight and we are going to watch some fireworks and have a few drinks so we will be having fun! I guess it's fitting that I'm also reviewing Takedown by Brad Thor today because the 4th of July is also when the story in this Scot Harvath novel takes place.     I'm having a drink and I really want to talk about this book! I hope this review turns out good because I really liked the book. This might be one of the best Scot Harvath novels I've read so far! I'm having fun so lets get to this review! Title: Takedown Author: Brad Thor Genre: Action/Thriller Pages: 416 Rating: 5 stars Synopsis: In the aftermath of a fourth of July terrorist bombing that has destroyed all the bridges and tunnels leading out of Manhattan, an elite cadre of highly trained Middle Eastern soldiers performs a methodical search to locate a man who holds a po

My Bookish Life: My June TBR

Hello! I hope you all are having a good day! My day has been pretty good so far! We have had a really fun weekend. My husband and I had a date day yesterday and we went to a new ramen shop. That was an interesting experience because I had never been to a ramen shop before. The food and drinks were good and I had fun! We also did some shopping which was fun!  We are just chilling at the house today. My husband is cooking some ribs on the smoker which will be really good for dinner. While I have some free time I decided I wanted to post my TBR for this month. It's pretty long but, I'm going to try to get it done! The first book I am reading this month is The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss. I'm reading it as part of The Ultimate Reading Challenge. My husband picked it to help me fill a prompt. It's pretty good so far! Next I'm going to be reading The Maid by Nita Prose. It's the book pick for our up-and-coming book club meeting so I really need to

My Bookish Life: My April TBR

Hello guys and how are you today? I hope everybody is doing good today. It's a beautiful day here so I'm typing this up outside while my kiddo is playing. I just love how it feels out here today! The sun is out and the birds are singing. The wind is blowing a little bit but that just makes it feel nicer.   I have all of my house work done for the day so I wanted to take a bit to show you guys my April TBR. It's an extra long one so I hope you all enjoy it. Now let's discuss these books!     First up we have The Aviator's Wife by Melanie Benjamin. I have already read most the book. I'm reading it for my new book club. It's ok so far . Not the best but not bad and I do think some of that feeling could be because I'm not liking one of the main characters!   After that we have Saga Volume 10 by Brian K Vaughn. If you have been reading my blog for long you know this is one of my favorite comic book series and I have reviewed most of the series for thi

My Bookish Life Book Review: State of The Union by Brad Thor

It was a pretty fun night!      Now I want to do some of the blog work I have been needing to do so, I want to get this review up before we go pick up Dorian. My Bookish Life: March TBR

Hello guys! How have you all been? I hope you have been doing good. I've been kind of stressed but I'm chilling out today. I'm actually setting outside while I make this blog because it's so sunny and it feels good. Plus, it's so peaceful!     So for the record, I have decided not to even review the last book that I read in February. It was Conspiracy: The World's Greatest Collusions and Cover Ups by Mike Rothschild. It was a 1 star read I hated it! Alot of it was the exact same stuff that was in the World's Worst Conspiracies by the same author. That's why I gave it a 1 star! I'm just done with it and I have moved on to March's TBR and my March reading plans! So yeah that's why there really wasn't a review of that one!       Now let's discuss this month's reading plans! First off, I am starting a reading challenge. It's called the Clear Your Back Log Challenge and mine is going to go for 90 days. During those 90 da

My Bookish Life : January TBR

Hello and how are you guys? I hope you are all doing great. I've had a pretty good day. My work day wasn't to bad and I get to be off tomorrow. Kiddo just fell asleep, so I want to publish my monthly TBR. This is kind of like a special edition of my TBR too because, January is my birth moth so I'm putting things I really really want to read on my TBR.      The drink included in all of these pics is like an adult Starbucks drink that I made myself and it's really good. It's a little bit of Starbucks Gingerbread coffee, and some of Ole Smokey's Some Beach Moonshine topped with whipped cream. I got the mug as a present through Secret Santa at my work place. So now lets talk about the books! The first book I've already started reading this month is The Decade That Rocked by Mark Weiss. This book is by rock n roll photographer Mark Weiss. It's a photography book where he showcases some of his best pictures and tells the stories behind them. I've alr
