My Bookish Life Book Review: Homebody A Guide To Creating Spaces You Never Want To Leave

Title: Homebody : A Guide To Creating Spaces You Never Want To Leave
  Author: Joanna Gaines Genre: Non-Fiction
 Pages: 340           Rating : 1.5 stars

Synopsis: In Homebody: A Guide To Creating Spaces You Never Want To Leave, Joanna Gaines walks you through how to create a home that reflects the personalities and stories of the people who live there. Using examples from her own farmhouse as well as a range of other homes, this comprehensive guide will help you assess your priorities and instincts, as well as your likes and dislikes, with practical steps for navigating and embracing your authentic design style. Room by room, Homebody gives you and in-depth look at how these styles are implemented as well as how to blend the looks you are drawn to in order to create spaces that feel distinctly yours. A removable design template at the back of the book offers a step-by-step guide to planning and sketching out your own design plans. The insight that is shared in Homebody will instill in you the confidence to thoughtfully create spaces you never want to leave.

My thoughts on the book: I'm very disappointed! I was really looking forward to reading this and it isn't really what I thought it would be. It really could have been better.

Some of the positives about the book are that there are some nice pictures of beautiful spaces and a couple of nifty ideas for organisation. I might try some of them myself. Those are the only good things about the book though!

However, the book has some major downsides. It isn't that in-depth when it comes to explaining stuff for one. I also thought it read like a really big magazine with lots of pictures and very small blurbs. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it. If you would like to check it out I would say rent it from the library because it really isn't worth the cover price.

The issues that I stated above are why I give it 1.5 stars. The nice pictures and nifty ideas redeem it a little but, not enough to save it from being like a really big magazine. It should have been more in-depth.

That's it for today. If you like my blog please give it a follow. Thanks for reading my post and I hope you have a wonderful day!
