My Bookish Life Book Review: Lock Every Door

Title: Lock Every Door Author:Riley Sager
Genre:  Horror Pages: 368
Rating: 4 stars

Synopsis: No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment . No disturbing other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsen's  new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew , one of Manhattan's most high-profile  and mysterious buildings.  Recently heartbroken and just plain broke , Jules is taken in by the splendor of he surroundings and accepts the terms,  ready to leave her past life behind.

That leads her towards searching for truths about the disappearances of people and to do that she has to dig into the Bartholomew's past and into the secrets that have been kept within it's walls.  What she discovers puts Jules against the clock as she races to unmask a killer,  expose the buildings hidden past, and escape the Bartholomew before her status as a temporary resident becomes permanent.

My thoughts on the book: I did really like it. I would recommend it to people who are fans of classic horror movies. Even though it was written recently it felt like an old horror movie to me . That's not bad though because I love old horror movies so if you like them you may like this book.

It made me think of Rosemary's Baby mixed with Halloween and maybe a bit of The Shining.  That's just the kind of vibe it gave me. It has twists and turns you never expect.  I was really wrong about how I thought certain parts of the story were going to end. Given I read a lot I was happy it was able to throw me off the way it did.

I will say the ending comes full circle and brings complete closure to everything even though none of it went how I thought it was going to go. I did like how complete the story ended up being and that there was only one lose end left. I think that lose end is left for the reader to make them feel how the lead character felt because she never finds the answer to that either.

If you like classic horror you really should check this out. It's like classic horror with a modern twist. I really did never see this ending coming. Because it gave me the feel of a classic horror movie I have to give the book 4 stars!

That's it for this update. I hope you all have a good night . If you like my content please subscribe to my blog. Also if you have read this book please leave your thoughts in the comments. That's it for now I will talk to you all later.
