My Bookish Life Book Review: White

Hello and how are you guys? I hope you all had a good day. Mine was pretty good. I did some studying this morning and then I went to a Christmas party at my kid's school. That was really fun! We did crafts and they had a bounce house. My kiddo enjoyed it he was running around everywhere!

Then we went to Pizza King for lunch. The food there was amazing like always! I tried their baked spaghetti, and it was really really good! My son loved his pizza too! After that we came home and have just hung out at the house the rest of the day.

We just had jambalaya for dinner and my husband is playing with kiddo. Since things are winding down for the day I want to post a book review before I go to bed. I'm ready to talk books so lets do this !

Title: White
Author: Bret Easton Ellis
Genre: Non-fiction
Pages: 272
Rating: 4

Synopsis: Bret Easton Ellis offers his first work of non-fiction meditating on the social media age. The result is both a defense of freedom of speech and a critique of the likeability factor that could upend it.

My thoughts on the book: Bret Easton Ellis is one of my favorite writers however this is the first time he has wrote a non-fiction book so this was a pretty different experience. However, he did a good job at writing this book. I like how bold he was in writing this whole thing.

One of the reasons why I like Bret as a writer is because he doesn't sugar coat things and I'm pretty positive he doesn't care if anyone likes. That side of Bret really shined in this non-fiction book, and it was really good. I also liked the snark he had in this book!

I agreed with a lot of his views on our current culture. I like that he put cancel culture on blast pretty much because I happen to think that it's bullshit and it does threaten stuff like our freedom of speech. When he was writing this it was 2018 so I do wonder what he would have said if he had written it in 2022.

Overall, the book was very well written, and Bret expressed his opinions very clearly. I found it interesting and entertaining, and I learned a few things. It is a quick and easy read so I would recommend it if you are a fan of Bret Easton Ellis!

Blog Update:
