My Bookish Life Book Review: The Last Thing He Told Me

Hello and how are you guys? I hope you all are having a good day! Mine has been pretty good so far. I know it's been a while since I have talked to you guys but, I have just been really busy with a lot of life changes. First off, I passed my exam to become a certified personal trainer! I have found a job doing that that I'm going to start next week. Secondly, my son was officially diagnosed with autism a few days ago. That wasn't really a surprise though because we have suspected that for a while now. So yeah my life has been crazy lately!

I have some quite time now so I'm having coffee and I want to talk about books! I have been meaning to do this review for a minute and I'm just looking forward to blogging again! So here we go lets do this.

Title: The Last Thing He Told Me
Author: Laura Dave
Genre: Thriller
Pages: 320
Rating: 1 star

Synopsis: Before Owen Michaels disappears, he manages to smuggle a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect Her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly who the note is referring to: Owen's 16 year old daughter Bailey. Bailey who lost her mom as a child, Bailey who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new step mother.

My thoughts on the book: So this book was the second pick for my libraries book club and unfortunately I didn't like this one at all. I fell there are a lot of ways this story could have been written that would have made it a lot better than what it was. Plus, the story was a little all over the place.

Firstly, I feel that giving some of the side characters more development could have made the story a bit better. For example, there is a character in the story that was kind of like a mob lawyer and I think it would've been interesting if we stayed with him for a chapter or two but he just doesn't go very far. Alot of the characters are actually only in the story for a few pages.

Then there is the end of the story. I just didn't like the ending at all. It aggravated me to no end because I feel that the story could have ended very differently. I feel like there was a very obvious way that Hannah and Bailey could have helped Owen and they just didn't even try it which was very irritating. That's actually a lot of why I didn't like the book!

For all the reasons above, I have to give the book a 1 star. The story was all over the place, interesting characters aren't in the story for very long and could have been used better, and the ending completely irritated me. So, all around it was a 1 star!

That's it for this reading update! Next month I hope to be back more and back to posting TBRs and things like that. I have been reading Voices In The Night by Dean Koontz and will be posting a review on it soon. If you have read The Last Thing He Told Me please leave your thoughts in the comments. That's all for now I hope you all have a nice day and I will talk to you all again soon. Goodbye for now!
