My Bookish Life Book Review: The Swiss Family Robinson

Hello and how are you guys? I hope you all are having a good day. I know it's been awhile since I have talked to you guys but it's been super crazy here. I just haven't had the time to do everything I have been wanting to do I'll be honest.

So I want to try to do this book review and hope it still turns out good because it's been a minute since I've read the book now. I have my coffee and I think this is the only chance I'm going to get to do this today so lets do this. That plus I want to try to have a good time!

Title: The Swiss Family Robinson
Author: Johann David Wyss
Genre: fiction
Pages: 328
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: The Robinson's leave their home in Switzerland planning to settle half a world away. But things don't turn out as they expected. The sole survivors of a terrible shipwreck, they wash ashore to learn that the danger has only just begun. Their new world will test their courage, cleverness, endurance and faith as they struggle to survive and create a civilization of their own in the wilderness.

My thoughts on the book: So my husband picked this one for me to read as part of a reading challenge.

It isn't something that I would normally read but it wasn't bad. I could see this being a good read for a little boy actually.

A lot of the story was pretty ok I think. I did find that nothing really bad ever happened to the family to be unbelievable but, I can forgive that because I'm pretty sure this was a children's fiction book. True they did lose some of their animals which was sad but, none of the main family members themselves died or anything like that.

I did like the concept of watching one family build a civilization out in the wilderness. I also thought some of the situations they found themselves in, like the one with the monkeys, was pretty funny. I'm not going to spoil it if you haven't read it you will just have to read it to see what I'm talking about.

So all in all I have to give it a 3 because I've read worse stories but it's not the best thing I've ever read either. I like the sense of adventure in the story and watching one family survive it all was pretty interesting. If you like survival stories you would probably really like this one.

Since I was reading it as part of my Ultimate Reading Challenge I want to show you all what my prize was for reading it!

While I think these are supposed to be cute coasters, they are made of paper so they would get destroyed if I actually used them. I do think they are really cute though. I'm just going to have to work with them to make them actually usable.

That's it for this reading update! If you have read The Swiss Family Robinson please leave your thoughts in the comments. Also if you happen to like my content please give my blog a like and a follow. I will be back tomorrow with a review of The Maid by Nita Prose. That's it for now I hope you all have a good evening. Goodbye talk to you all again soon!
