My Bookish Life Book Review : We

Hello and how are you all doing? I hope everybody is having a good day. Mine has been good but busy. I had to work earlier and then clean house. Now the kiddo is preoccupied with some toys so, I want to work on my blog while he is doing that. I have already finished one book this month so lets get to this review shall we.

Title : We
Author : Yevgeny Zamyatin
Genre: Fiction
Pages : 108
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: In a glass in-closed city of absolute straight lines , ruled over by the all powerful 'Benefactor', the citizens of the totalitarian society of OneState live out lives devoid of passion and creativity- until D-503, a mathematician who dreams in numbers, makes a discovery: he has an individual soul.

My thought's on the book: This one was an ok read. It wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be but, it wasn't bad at all. As a matter of fact most of it is really well written.

A lot of the descriptions in this book are pretty vividly written so it makes things easy to picture. For the most part it was like a movie playing out in my head. That was one part that I really enjoyed about the book.

As a whole Zamyatin seems like a good writer which leads me to believe somethings might have gotten lost during the translation or either my copy was badly edited or something like that. Unfortunately, that did affect my enjoyment of the story . So because of that I had to lower the rating a little bit.

As a whole though the story was ok I did enjoy reading it. I thought it was a good look at what a totalitarian society can be like . I also liked the characters and found them interesting . My favorite character is probably I-330. I liked her personality and spunk!

So , since the story wasn't bad and the writing was good overall I am going to give the book three stars! I would recommend the book to anybody who likes dystopian stories or books like 1984 by George Orwell for example.  So, if you like Orwell you might want to check this one out!

That's it for this reading update! I will be back soon with a review of Preacher by Garth Ennis. If you have read We please leave your thoughts in the comments. Also if you like my content please give my blog a follow ! That's it for now I will talk to you all again soon and I hope you all have a good evening and I will talk to you all again soon!
