My Bookish Life Book Review and Reading Challenge

So how are you guys this morning? I hope you are having a nice Valentines Day so far. Today is actually mine & my husband's anniversary. We have been married since 2009! I have a fun dinner planned for us when he gets off work. I'm going to get a pizza and some cheesy bread, and I already got a Pokémon (my husband loves to play the games) cookie cake that's Valentines themed. I should have probably done home cooking but, I just wanted it to be super relaxed and fun this year no stress. So, I'm looking forward to that later!

This is going to be a longer post because I have multiple things to talk about. I hope you guys enjoy this post! I have my coffee and I'm ready to go so lets do this!

First up I have completed my reading challenge prompt for the month so let's talk about that. When I did it this month this is the prompt I got.

Make or order a snack or meal described in a book you have read.

To complete that prompt I made the Gunslinger burritos from Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I know I have made them before, but they are super good and really fun to make so I wanted to do it again.

Ingredients: Venison (I had to sub and use bison)
                        Salt
                        Mushrooms
                        Wild Onions
                        butter
                        garlic
                        black pepper
                        Collard Green leaves

Ok so how I did this was super simple. I couldn't smoke mine, so I did have to cook it inside on an eye. I put a little bit of butter in the pan and let it melt. Then I added my bison and my seasonings. After that, I added the mushrooms and the onions. I just cooked it until the meat was done and the veggies were soft. The last thing you do is put your filling on a collard green leaf and roll it up like it's a burrito.

My thoughts on the burritos: I like them! They are really fun to make and actually taste really good. At least with how I did it they don't take that long to make, and I would say they are probably decently healthy because, you get your protein and your veggies, and it doesn't really have carbs. If you are a fan of the book series, you should try making the burritos. Even if you aren't a fan of the book series you should still try them because they are really good!

Now to show you what my prize was for completing that reading prompt:

It was a cute little stamp! It's adorable! Heads up I think there is going to be a way I can knock out multiple prompts next month. So be on the lookout for that!

Now let's get to the book review!

Title: Stuff They Don't Want You To Know
Authors: Ben Bowlin with Matt Frederick and Noel Brown
Genre: Conspiracy
Pages: 223
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: The co-hosts of the hit podcasts Stuff They Don't Want You To Know, Ben Bowlin, Matthew Frederick, & Noel Brown, discern conspiracy fact from fiction.

My thoughts on the book: It's a interesting read. I have been wanting to read it for a while because, I'm a fan of their podcast. Which if you haven't checked it out you should it's really good. They discuss different conspiracies every episode and if the conspiracy has any basis in some truth.

This book reads just like several episodes of the podcast. The topics were pretty interesting. I did learn some stuff too. For example, before this I had heard of the Tuskegee Experiment that happened in Alabama but, I didn't really know too much about what it was which is something that's talked about in this book.

While the book was interesting, I'm only giving it 3 stars. The reason for that at least for me was because after reading it for a while it all started to blend together. It was like watching several episodes of a show back-to-back if that makes sense. However, it is still an interesting read.

That's it for this book review. If you have read this book or tried gunslinger burritos, please leave your thoughts in the comments. Also, if you happen to like my content, please give my blog a like and a follow! That's it for now Happy Valentines Day everyone and I will be back with a review of Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughn soon.
