My Bookish Life Book Review: The Great Gatsby

Hello and how are you all doing today? I hope everybody is having a good day! I am having a pretty good day so far! We all went and had dinner at my mother-in-law's. So that was really nice!

Now I want to do this book review. I think this will be a quick one too for reasons that you will see. I think it's gonna be fun though because you all aren't to used to me giving this type of review. I got my drink so lets do this!

Title: The Great Gatsby
Author: F. Scott Fitzgerald
Genre: Fiction
Pages: 180
Rating: 1 star

Synopsis: The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, and lavish parties in Long Island during the roaring 20s'.

My thoughts on the book: The Great Gatsby = The Great Bore!! I hated it ! I thought it would be a quick read because it's just 180 pages. No those were some of the longest dullest 180 pages ever!

I just couldn't get into it at all. I really wanted to like it because a lot of my favorite authors claim it as their favorite book so I had high expectations. Instead it completely bored me and I have no idea how I managed to actually finish it.

I also didn't like the writing style the whole story just kind of blended together. Plus, there is a twist at the end that I didn't particularly like because it just happens out of nowhere. Just didn't care for this book at all!

So I had to give it a 1 star. It just wasn't for me. If you want to read it give it a try but, for me it was just a huge no!

Ultimate Reading Challenge Update:
I was reading The Great Gatsby to complete a prompt in my reading challenge:

It's not so much that I hated The Great Gatsby in high school (I do now though) but, I didn't read classics in high school so I more so interpreted this prompt just as read a classic. Let's see what my prize was!

Cool it's a tiny little wooden bookmark! It's so cute! I actually like this prize!

That's it for this reading update! I will be back soon with my reading TBR for June. I've started reading The Radium Girls by Kate Moore (so far it's so much better than The Great Bore). If you have read The Great Gatsby please leave your own thoughts in the comments. Also, if you happen to like my content please give my blog a like and a follow! Thank you and have a good evening! Goodbye for now!
