My Bookish Life Book Review: Takedown

Hello and how are you guys? I hope you all are having a happy 4th of July! My husband is smoking some ribs and a pork shoulder for dinner tonight and we are going to watch some fireworks and have a few drinks so we will be having fun! I guess it's fitting that I'm also reviewing Takedown by Brad Thor today because the 4th of July is also when the story in this Scot Harvath novel takes place.

I'm having a drink and I really want to talk about this book! I hope this review turns out good because I really liked the book. This might be one of the best Scot Harvath novels I've read so far! I'm having fun so lets get to this review!

Title: Takedown
Author: Brad Thor
Genre: Action/Thriller
Pages: 416
Rating: 5 stars

Synopsis: In the aftermath of a fourth of July terrorist bombing that has destroyed all the bridges and tunnels leading out of Manhattan, an elite cadre of highly trained Middle Eastern soldiers performs a methodical search to locate a man who holds a powerful secret of key importance to both sides.

My thoughts on the book: I LOVED this one! It was a really fun read. The pacing never let up and it was a constant thrill. I never really knew what was going to happen next.

I liked the cast of characters we got in this one. Besides Scot Harvath himself, I also liked Tracey Hastings! I liked how she had to face her worst fear pretty much head on. I think it ended up being good character development for her. I also liked the character Gary Lawlor in this book, I just found his situation to be interesting. Then there is the character of Scot Harvath himself who was just fun to read as always! I love his determination and energy!

I really liked the story in this book too! I'm not going to give a lot of spoilers but the American government discovered that the attack in NY that happens in the story was a distraction more or less and the al-Qaeda was still attacking America. After al-Qaeda bombed the tunnels and bridges in NY they started attacking America's military black sites.

The story follows Scot and his friends as they try to figure out who is attacking America and why are they attacking America. They are also in a race against time so they can stop the terrorists from attacking all of our black sites and getting away with very sensitive information.  It is a very thrilling ride from start to finish!

This book had a thrilling story and lots of good characters so I have to give it five stars! It was just such a fun read I can't honestly score it any lower. If you like military stories I would recommend you check this series as a whole out!

That's it for this reading update! I will be back in a day or two with a review of The Great Gatsby by      F. Scot Fitzgerald. I will also post my July TBR soon, probably tomorrow I just have to get the books from the library.

If you happen to like my content please give my blog a like and a follow. Happy 4th of July! Goodbye for now!
