My Bookish Life Book Review: The Mortal Instruments : City of Bones

Hello everybody! How are all of you this morning? I hope you all are having a good morning. I'm sorry I didn't finish this book sooner however the stuff currently going on in my country has kept my mind pretty distracted recently and it's made it hard for me to concentrate on reading. So lets go ahead and get this review down shall we !

Title: Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones
Author : Cassandra Clare
Genre: YA Fantasy
Pages: 485
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: When 15 year old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder- much less a murder committed by 3 teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and there is nothing- not even a smear of blood- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk . Within 24 hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance when her mother disappears and Clary herself gets attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know.

My thoughts on the book : This one was a reread. This book is alright. It wasn't as good as I remember it being but that could be because like I said the stuff going on in my country has my mind pretty distracted right now, So take that all with a grain of salt.

I like the world Cassandra starts to build in this book. It's very descriptive and easy to picture. Plus, it's just plain cool looking ! I also like the characters that Cassandra came up with in the book.  Considering it's YA Fantasy the characters seem real enough and are likeable. . Plus, being a Shadowhunter is pretty interesting.

I like how the whole world is set up in this series. There are humans which are mundanes, Shadowhunters which are  the appointed warriors on Earth of the Angel Raziel, then there are downworlders which are human crossbreeds examples would be vampires and werewolves and then there are demons which are beings from a completely different realm. There is a lot of story and mythos and it actually all ties together pretty well .

This book is a decent read so I'm going to give it 3 stars. If you like fantasy you may like this one and should check it out . Despite what I said at the first it's not bad really I think my mind is just distracted right now.  I want to reread book 2 sometime soon!

That's it for this update ! I started reading the book The Crow Waking Nightmares so there will be a review up for it soon . With my mind being how it is I just wanted an easy read and it's a graphic novel so it want take me no time at all. After that I will be reading Carried Away by E.L. Haines and that should be a good one. If you like my content please give my blog a follow . Also, if you have read these books please leave your thoughts in the comments. That's it for now I hope you all have an awesome day ! I'm about to get mine started!
