My Bookish Life Book Review: The Great Artists: Vincent Van Gogh

Hello and how are you guys? I have had a pretty good day today and I hope you have too ! I had the day off work. I didn't go any where but, I stayed at the house and did some cleaning . Then I just chilled out the rest of the afternoon and done some reading and took a bath.

Now I want to work on my blog some before I have to start cooking dinner. I'm going to make my favorite dinner tonight which is fried potatoes , pinto beans and corn bread and I like to have a jalapeno and a slice of onion with it . Before I cook all that though, I want to discuss books!

Title: The Great Artists : Vincent Van Gogh
Author: Susie Hodges
Genre: Non-fiction
Pages: 90
Rating: 5 stars!

Synopsis: This introduction to some of the greatest artists of the past 150 years looks at their lives and inspirations, and showcases a selection of the artists most significant paintings. Van Gogh's style of painting is now famous world wide, but during his lifetime his work was not appreciated and he was largely unknown. This book explores the life story of this tortured soul, who came late to art and suffered through out his life from insecurity and depression. It unravels the influences behind his artworks, from the luminous landscapes of the south of France to the Japanese woodblock prints he so admired, and explores how he developed his own unique style.

My thoughts on the book: Firstly, I have to say the cover is beautiful ! The picture doesn't do it justice. Besides being a fan of Van Gogh the cover is one of the things that made me want to buy it when I saw it at the store.

I really enjoyed reading this and I did learn somethings I didn't know about Van Gogh . For example I actually didn't know he liked Japanese art. So, it's a very interesting read ! At only 90 pages it was also a very quick read that didn't last long because I didn't want to put it down. I thought it was that good !

I have to say the pages on the inside are very high quality and just as beautiful as the cover ! The artwork on the inside is also very beautiful . I really loved that the inside was just as high quality as the outside instead of it just having a beautiful cover.

I would recommend this book to anybody who is a Van Gogh fan or if the person just likes art in general. It was a  quick but, interesting read and so I have to give it 5 stars! I can't stop saying how much I really loved this book !

That's it for this reading update ! If you have read this book please leave your thoughts in the comments so we can discuss this. Also, if you happen to like my content please give my blog a follow. That's it for now I hope you all have a nice night and I will talk to you all again soon !
