My Bookish Life Book Review: Horns

Hello everybody !  How are you all doing? I hope you all have been doing good!  I was finally able to finish Horns here recently . I would of had it done sooner but I had some very busy and rough feeling days here recently. With that being said I would like to finally get this review done while I have some time so lets get to it!

Title: Horns
Author : Joe Hill
Genre: Horror
Pages : 437
Rating: 3.5

Synopsis: Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning  with a thunderous hangover, a raging headache... and a pair of Horns growing from his temples.

At first Ig thought the Horns were a hallucination , the product of a mind damaged
by rage and grief . He had spent the last year in a lonely private purgatory, following the death of his beloved, Merrin Williams, who was raped and murdered under inexplicable circumstances . A mental breakdown would have been the most natural thing in the world. But there was nothing natural about the horns that were all to real.

My thoughts on the book: I thought it was a decent read . This is only the second book I've read by Joe Hill and it does make me want  to read another. Plus, I liked the book enough to want to watch the movie version that stars Daniel Radcliffe .

For some reason Summer always makes me want to read books like this and I have no idea why. This book has a very interesting concept because at least by  the way I interpreted it it's about the devil within people. I mean the main character has a physical manifestation  of this because he grows horns but, not all of the characters in the book have the book have that. While they don't have the physical manifestation of horns like our main character does, they very much do have their own devils inside them.

I also found certain parts of this book to be very humorous ! Even though it's a horror book it made me laugh a good bit too . I also like Joe Hill's writing style so far.

However, I did think there was a small bit of lag in the story. I think that might be because I thought the story was going to go in a different direction though. I did like that the story went a different way than I thought it was going to but, the lag is why I'm giving the book 3.5 stars.

Also for the record, since this book is on my these books will self destruct in 6 months list, I thought I would let you know that after reading this book I have decided to keep it! I thought the concept was interesting! On a different note I have finished a book for my graphic novel spotlight and I will have that review up here shortly.

That's it for this reading update! If you have read the book please leave your thoughts in the comments. Also, if you like my content please subscribe to my blog! That's it for now I will talk to you all again shortly .
