My Bookish Life : Graphic Novel Spotlight #2

I am back at it for the second time today because I have also finished reading the book I'm using for the Graphic Novel Spotlight series . I actually finished it before I finished Horns but, I wanted to get Horns review posted first since I had been reading it for the longest . So here we go with another review!

Title: The Dark Tower: The Long Road Home
Authors: Stephen King, Robin Furth, Peter David
Art: Jae Lee & Richard Isanove
Lettering : Chris Eliopoulos
Genre: Graphic Novel
Rating: 4 stars

Synopsis: (Spoiler Warning) In the second collection of the comic book series based off of Stephen Kings Dark Tower series gunslinger Roland Deschain has seen the death of his lover Susan Delgado. The Big Coffin Hunters who burned her at the stake are now in pursuit of Roland and his ka-tet consisting of Cuthbert and Alain. While they are being pursued Roland's mind has been sucked into the grapefruit and he is physically unconscious.

My thoughts on the book: I liked it . I thought it was decently good. I also really liked the artwork in this one too. As far as the story goes it's a bit other worldly but it makes sense.

So the story mostly goes in-between being with Alain and Cuthbert while they are being pursued by the Big Coffin Hunters and following Roland while his mind is trapped inside the grapefruit which is like a looking glass. The bits with Alain and Cuthbert keep the story grounded but are still really good. They are having to do things like fight the Big Coffin Hunters and wolves all while trying to figure out how to deal with Roland being unconscious and trying to figure out how to get Roland out of the grapefruit. Like I said that all kept the story grounded while still being really good.

For a counter to that when the story is following Roland while he is stuck in the grapefruit that's where it gets into being a high flying sci-fi fantasy I would say. This part of the story is really other worldly I would say but it obviously makes sense for it to be like that . You meet the Crimson King in this part and he is like a giant half man half spider like creature with a horn and is also a shapeshifter . I love how Roland is a smartass to the Crimson King in this too.

I have to say that the artwork in this collection was even better than the artwork in the last one . It is just really cool looking I think. I would show you guys but I don't know if I can do that with comics or not. You guys will just have to check it out.

Looking back I think I liked this one more than I originally thought. I'm about to go back to the top of this and change it's rating from 3.5  to a 4 star rating. You guys should really check this one out!

That's it for this update ! If you have read this book leave your thoughts in the comments section. If you like my content please subscribe to my blog. that's it for now I will talk to you all again soon I hope you have a good evening.
