My Bookish Life : Graphic Novel Spotlight #1

Hello once again everybody! How are all of you doing ? I hope you all have a very good day . I know mine is going to be really busy because I have house stuff and errands I have to do. Since I have a few quite minutes this morning though ,  I wanted to start the graphic novel spotlight I told you guys I wanted to do, While there will usually only be one book covered for this kick off edition there is going to be two. Also, these are going to be like all my other book reviews. That being said lets get started!

Title: Stephen King's Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born
Authors: Stephen King, Robin Furth, and Peter David
Artists: Jae Lee & Richard Isanove
Lettering: Chris Eliopoulos
Genre: Graphic Novel
Pages : 106
Rating: 3.5 stars

Synopsis: Bringing the dramatic history of Roland into chronological order- as originally published in the novels The Gunslinger and Wizard & Glass- The Gunslinger Born begins with a reckless act of courage that gains Roland his first set of guns and earns him and his friends a special mission to the town of Hambry . But the expedition will quickly become Roland's first experience with the truly evil forces he will encounter again and again in his life. He will also discover the power and pain of true love , through which, more than anything , he will learn beyond a shadow of a doubt what things are worth killing for .

My thoughts on the book: I really liked it ! Most of the story in it comes from the book Wizard & Glass and while some stuff was cut from this version of the story I still think it's a good adaptation I liked that it was very faithful to the source material.

I have to talk about the artwork in this series for a minute. It's absolutely beautiful! This comic has some of the best artwork I have ever seen in a comic ! I thought it was detailed and vivid and lively .
Since it was a good adaptation of the books and the artwork is beautiful I'm giving this graphic novel  3.5 stars .  It would have been rated higher but I feel like there was more story in the actual books. However, it wasn't bad and 3.5 stars isn't a bad rating.

Title: Negan Lives #1
Author: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Charlie Adlard
Letter: Rus Wooton
Pages 32 I think
Rating : 3.5 stars

Synopsis: Spurned by a slowly rebuilding society , Negan lives in desperate isolation... or does he? This all new story gives readers a glimpse into what happened to one of The Walking Dead's most popular characters since his last appearance in The Walking Dead #174.

My thoughts on the book: First off, I want to say if you haven't read The Walking Dead comics you should read those before you read this one because this one is kinda like a sequel to them. I think if Robert Kirkman decides to do this (which I think he will) this #1st issue is a decent start to what could be a good series or mini-series. I think having Negan go off and more or less explore this new world could lead to some interesting stories.

I think a bit of a warning has to be placed here incase you have never read The Walking Dead comics . If you are  easily offended this isn't a character you will like following. However, as long as you don't mind his language and have a somewhat twisted sense of humor you could end up loving this character.

I also liked the artwork in this book.  Charlie Adlard did a very good job as always . I also like that this comic is in black and white like the original comic . I think them being in black and white gives them an old horror movie feel.

I think this could be an interesting story. I want to read more to see how it goes. That's why I'm giving the book 3.5 stars!

I want to let you all know I'm about halfway through  Horns by Joe Hill so a review for that should be up soon. Other than that that's all for now. If you have read these comics leave your thoughts in the comments . Also if you like my content please give my blog a follow. I hope you all have a good day I will talk to you all again later!
