So I actually purchased some books today. All of these were purchased from a thrift store with the exception of Homebody. Overall , I spent about $6.50 for all of them.
Synopsis: Anne Rice, creator of the Vampire Lestat, the Mayfair witches and the amazing worlds they inhabit, now gives us the first in a new series of novels linked together by fledgling vampire David Talbot, who has set out to become a chronicler of his fellow Undead.
Reason I bought it: I am a huge fan of Anne Rice. I absolutely love her Vampire series and I didn't have this one. Plus, it was only 25 cents!
Synopsis: "This isn't just about getting me hot till my juices run clear, and then a little rest. There's pulling , jerking, stuffing, trusting... he promises we'll start out slow, with wine and a good oiling ... Holy crap."
So begins the initiation of a young free-range chicken at the hands of a mysterious domineering cook. This spoof-in-a-cookbook makes dinner a turn on with 50 recipes that will enthrall you.
Reason I bought it: It just seemed like it would be hilarious! Maybe it will also teach me how to cook some really good chicken! It only costed 50 cents too so that's a bonus!
Synopsis: In his first set of short stories John Grisham takes us back to Ford County .
Why I bought it: I have been wanting to give John Grisham a read for awhile now. Yes, I confess I have never read any of his stuff. I hope I'm picking a good place to start! My cost for this book was 50 cents.
Synopsis: Are you or somebody you know a pet lover? Do you talk to your pets like they're people? Do you sign your cats name to greeting cards? Does your dog's wild welcome home make your day? Now there is a book written for you and anyone else who has been touched by the love of a pet -Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul.
Why I got it: I read some of the Chicken Soup books when I was younger and loved them. I also love animals and thought this book sounded adorable! I got it for a grand total of 25 cents!
Synopsis: In Homebody :A Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want To Leave, Joanna Gaines walks you through how to create a home that reflects the personalities and stories of the people who live there. Using examples from her own farm house as well as a range of other homes, this comprehensive guide will help you assess your priorities and instincts, as well as your likes and dislikes, with practical steps for navigating and embracing your authentic design style. Room by room , Homebody gives you an in-depth look at how these styles are implemented as well as how to blend the looks your drawn to in order to create spaces that feel distinctly yours. A design template at the end of the book offers a step by step guide to planning and sketching out your own design plans. The insight shared in Homebody will instill in you the confidence to thoughtfully create spaces you never want to leave!
Reason I bought it: I'm a fan of their HGTV show. I also thought it might give me some good ideas for stuff to do with my house. This book was my most expensive book purchase. No, I didn't pay 27 dollars for it though. A local salvage store has had it for a good while and I would look at it every time I went in there and today it was 80% off ! I just had to actually buy it this time!
Overall, I think I got a pretty good book haul today . I'm really happy with it! Either, Homebody or 50 Shades of Chicken will probably be my just because I want to read it book on my TBR list next month. I might start one of them sooner if I get done with this months TBR before the end of the month. That's it for this update I hope you are having a good day and if you like my blog please give me a follow!
