Hello how is everybody doing? I hope you all are doing great! I feel much better than I did the last time I posted and I'm having a very good day. So, yesterday I was at the Goodwill because I had to buy my kiddo some clothes and I ended up buying some books too so I thought I would do a book haul post. Without further ado let's discuss the books that were hauled.
Author: Michael Baigent
Genre: Conspiracy
Synopsis: A 19th century french priest discovers something in his mountain village at the foot of The Pyrenees which enables him to amass and spend a fortune of millions of pounds. The tale seems to begin with buried treasure and then turns into an unprecedented historical detective story- a modern Grail quest leading back through cryptically coded parchments, secret societies, the Knights Templar, the Cather heretics of the 12th and 13th centuries and a dynasty of obscure French kings deposed more than 1,300 years ago.
Why I bought the book: I'm going to be honest, I picked the book up because the cover made me think it was going to be a horror novel. Then I read the back of the book and realized it's a conspiracy type book. However, it still sounded interesting so into the cart it went.
Author: Helen Fielding
Genre: fiction
Synopsis: Lurching from the bars of Notting Hill to the blissed out shores of Thailand, Bridget Jones searches for The Truth in spite of the pathetically unevolved men, insane dating theories, and Smug Married advice. She experiences a zeitgeist-esque Spiritual Epiphany somewhere between the pages of How To Find The Love You Want Without Seeking It, protective custody, and chilled Chardonnay.
Why I bought the book: I actually still need to read the first book but I have been wanting to read the Bridget Jones books so I went ahead and got this one. I want to read the books because they sound like light, funny , and fun reads. Plus, I have heard a lot of people say the books are really good. I also know that the books spawned two movies that I have also heard good things about.
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: When confronted by raging fires or deadly accidents, volunteer fireman Taylor McAden feels compelled to take risks, but there is one leap of faith Taylor can't bring himself to make: He can't fall in love.
Why I bought this book: So I spotted another book that's also on this list and it made me really nostalgic for Nicholas Sparks and I ended up grabbing several of his books with this one being one of them. I read the synopsis and it sounded really good like it might be something I would like. I have read two books by Nicholas Sparks but I would like to read more of his books!
4. A Walk To Remember
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: There was a time when the world was sweeter ... when the women in Beaufort, North Carolina wore dresses, and the men donned hats... Every April , when the wind smells of both the sea and lilacs, Landon Carter remembers 1958, his last year at Beaufort High. Landon had dated a girl or two, and he even thought he had fell in love once . Certainly the last person he thought he would fall in love with is Jamie, the shy, almost ethereal, daughter of the town's Baptist minister... Jamie, who was destined to show him the depths of the human heart - and the joy and pain of living.
Why I bought the book: Yes, this is the Nicholas Sparks book I saw that made me nostalgic! This copy that I bought yesterday is even the same edition 10/11 year old me had. I guess you could say I was transported back to 1999 when the movie had just came out and my friends and I were madly in love with the movie and watched it all the time. Of course since I loved to read even back then I bought a copy of the book and I remember loving the book too. Plus, I think this book may have been the very first Romance novel I had ever read. Depending on how things go I may add rereading this one to next months TBR.
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: In the spring of 1984, high school students Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole fell deeply in love . But as the summer of their senior year came to a close , unforeseen events would tear the young couple apart and set them on two divergent paths. Now, 25 years later, Amanda and Dawson are summoned back to Oriental for the funeral of Tuck Hosteleter, the mentor who once gave shelter to their high school romance. Neither of them have been living the life they imagined.
Why I bought the book: I thought that both the cover and the title of the book was adorable. Then I read the synopsis and the story sounded really good. I think this will be a really cute read whenever I get to reading it.
So that's all the books I have hauled recently. I have two more blog ideas I want to do within the next few days. One, is a bookshelf tour which I may do tomorrow and the other one is called these books will self destruct in 6 months. That last one I will explain more when I make the post. I also am rereading Wolves of The Calla by Stephen King and I will be reviewing it soon.
In the meantime, if you like my content please give my blog a follow. Also, if you have read any of these books please leave your thoughts in the comments section. I hope you all have a nice afternoon and I will talk to you guys again tomorrow.
